This is one of those stage places I have been seeking for years ever since I first started collecting them in college. A place that looks like something is about to happen or just happened. Clues and incongruities are strewn around the set. Characters could enter or exit from several access points and windows. The mundane, hanging laundry, and the lofty, ornate stone carving, share the stage as in life and art.
This spot has, in fact, been the site of human drama. This church was shelled by the Yugoslav People’s Army from the hills above Dubrovnik seen in the distance during the Croatian War in the early 1990’s. Later, scenes of the HBO series, Game of Thrones, were filmed here.
